Getting prepared for tonight's
Beatles Event at Book People to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Day That Paul McCartney was introduced to John Lennon. Most of the press articles covering this anniversary refer to it as "The Day That Paul Met John." There's a specific reason I don't - if you're curious it's in
the book(Page 51).
Just spoken to the guys in
the band, and they are all ready. Set up schedule has been worked out as well as the "running order" for tonight. We will kick off with about 20 minutes of Lennon & McCartney tunes, then I'll do my story telling pitch. Once the Q&A session fizzles out and I'm signing books, the boys in the band will provide some background music.
We took a box full of paperback editions in to the store on Monday for them to add into their system. And I received an email from the event coordinator on Tuesday politely asking if I could drop off some books. After a couple of phone exchanges he was a little embarrassed to admit that they had been slipped under the information desk at the front of the store and he'd not seen them. Yesterday the box of hardbacks that I'd ordered from the publishers especially for the event turned up, so hopefully we can add those to the store's inventory before we kick off. The hardbacks sell twice as many as the paperbacks at Book People.
Over lunch I was running through some opening's with Meggan and Erin to get their feedback. My personal favorite was ...
"Once upon a time, in a town called Liverpool, there were two teenage boys..."
For some strange reason they didn't like that one.
