Father of mine (After Timmy and Damian stop talking)

Mar 28, 2011 00:51

Of course, Damian's good mood faded as soon as he found a note in his father’s handwriting waiting on his desk. “An apology letter to Comissionor Gordon.” He reminded himself that Fake Drake had said his father loved him, but he was still stung by the treatment.  He had nothing to apologize for. Well, perhaps the fire but he wasn't going to admit ( Read more... )

"What I want you to say." He frowns, trying to get the words right. "Is what is true. Even if you're not sure what that is, Damian."

He has a bad feeling that he's only complicating things, but he wants. Needs the boy to at least try. A little. To start.

Damian shrugged, completely confused. He wanted to please his father, but he was so confused. "I am telling you what is true. Is there something wrong with what I want?" he asked. He just wanted to know why his father was talking in riddles. "I want those things because I always wanted those things and I see no better alternative." He racked his brains, trying to know what to say. "I want the freedom to do as I please."

"We. Are going to explore the alternatives," Bruce decides.

It's what the boy needs, yet he has no idea how to go about it. He'll figure it out. Somehow.

Damian's eyes widened. This did not sound promising for his career as the future Batman. "There are no alternatives to me following in your footsteps. It's what I want."

Oh. Hmmm. The boy hadn't heard what he'd meant.

"You can follow in my foot steps, Damian. But there is a number of years before. That." But that's not just it. How does he get the boy to understand? How?

Oh! "Damian, this will be strange, but I promise it's relevant."

Bruce likes his lips, hoping this isn't going to back fire on him.

"Why do you think I play Brucie?"

Damian nodded. "So no one deduces that you're Batman. The more foolish you seem to others, the less they suspect you. Also, so you can make people underestimate you," he said, still panicking. It was the longest conversation he had ever had with a parent or...anyone else besides Grayson. He was feeling worried.

Bruce. Smiles. Ever so slightly, but it's in his eyes.

"There is that," he admits. The corners of his lips twitch. A little. "But there is less. Mission oriented reasons as well."

Damian stared at his father and was horrified to see a possible hint that his father enjoyed acting the part of the fool. "Because it amuses you to play with the minds of others?"

"That is part of it," he admits. Again. "But mostly it's an opportunity to. Play."

Should he mention that it was somewhat Alfred's idea for him to behave like a. Okay, perhaps not all that normal. Billionaire.

Damian nodded. "Mother said you did like whores and you have unusual tastes. That's why you never married her, because you prefer sluts in leather or something like that. Grandfather does as well...plays with pleasure women. He says it's a woman's function to please men." He knew enough about human reproduction to know he wasn't expected to have it. "Mother said I would have a concubine teach me when I was thirteen. Is that what you mean by play?"
