Aw all the best laid plans an’ all that. Aaaah fucker, was a bit of a mad weekend really, lots went on. Don’t wanna post up loads after writing this one to be honest. So we’ll just pretend I don’t have to :P
Your parents, in great detail
Wow. Ok. Well, my Mam first.
My Mam is called Emily, she’s the Broughton part of my second name. She’s real pretty, my mam, and her hair is proper blond, like a princess, not all dirty like my hair. She’s got grey eyes, and she’s well skinny, and quite tall, she’s taller than me. She comes from old money, and her dad never approved of my dad so she ran away with him. Pretty romantic, huh? They got married at Gretna Green, which on the very borders of Scotland. It actually where people from England would run to to get married because of the old laws but they came down from up North. My Granddad and Grandmother on her side never spoke to her again but then they died without amending any will so she became head of the family regardless. She’s sitting on a small fortune from them. I think Dad’s always provided for her though, with his own money, you know, that he made. My mam doesn’t work or that, I’m not sure what she does all day but she does a lot of sewing and she does gardening even though we got a gardener and she would sometimes polish things but we had a cleaner, and she would see her friends and my Dad would always take her somewhere beautiful when he had a day off.
They’re really in love my Mum and Dad, still. That’s why it was so important to me when I was younger that I always had someone to go out with. Because I didn’t really get shown love by them except to each other…. Never mind.
My Dad is called Theodore, everyone calls him Teddy. He’s massive tall, really proper tall, and looks exactly like you’d imagine some Irish charmer who steals girls hearts to look. He’s all jet black hair and bright blue eyes and he’s got this smile- I’ve never known anyone not to be won over by my dad. He’s the sort of man who can sit for hours in silence but you surround him with his mates and he’ll never stop, just talk and talk, telling stories and winning loyalty. He used to take me to the pub sometimes when I was little, when my mum couldn’t stand to look at me no more and needed me out of the house. He had his own place at the bar, they knew him, all of them knew him. It was like watching magic. My dad’s in the police, he’s real high up. If there’s a kiddy goes missing or a serial murderer on the loose then it’s my dad you’ll see on the telly. He’s really fierce, sometimes, my dad. He scares me. He scares me and he makes me feel safe, I dunno how to explain it. I’ve got a lot of mixed feelings to do with both of them, I suppose.
What they done really, I suppose, is unforgivable. I wasn’t loved none by my mum, and my dad didn’t know how to be a dad. Only knew I upset his wife, and didn’t fit in at school and that… I was always in trouble and always punished and I never felt like their kid for more than a couple of hours a year… but I’m alright with it now. Doesn’t matter.
Cause they might not be very good parents. But they’re still my Mum and Dad.
And I just love them.
