SO. Okay.
Yesterday, me and Leah were talking on AIM a bunch after reading RP!S. We started going over how we were frustrated with the comments of people saying there aren't well done women in fandom, or there just aren't enough of them, or they're not interesting, etc, etc. We were frustrated most particularly because we know TONS of series - mangas, comics, movies, and everything else under the sun - that are both great and have really well done women in them.
That's when something clicked for us -
WE know all these series with great women. But there's just the fact that a lot of people don't, because a lot of the stuff we love is OBSCURE AS FUCK and we just generally don't think about other people never, ever seeing the stuff we read or watch or play.
So we came to the conclusion that the best way to deal with our frustration, and to break through the 'there's no/not nearly enough interesting women in fandom' problem, was to make an LJ dedicated to showcasing a series or two each week that has AWESOME FUCKING WOMEN in it, where people can follow it and not only get to maybe learn about some great new stuff they'd never read before, but get to see women characters who don't suck it for once.
So we did.
I've already written one showcase, for the manga Tetsuwan Girl, and Leah's working on a post of her own of one series she loves for later.
