By the time I realized that I was in Boston, all dressed up and wearing a purple shirt, on the day of the Gay Pride parade, it had already been over for two hours. So I went to the theatre and watched Kung Fu Panda, which was surprisingly good. Jack Black was occasionally annoying as the title character, but Dustin Hoffman was perfect as his reluctant raccoon mentor, Master Shifu. The CG animation was colorful and expressive, and the kung fu itself wasn't bad, either; Dreamworks is still playing catch-up to Pixar, but they are closing the gap.
I am reading this webcomic called Gunnerkrigg Court. It is quite mysterious and enjoyable, reminding me in some ways of an anime series called Haibane Renmei which I liked very much. It has a sometimes dream-like, fairy-tale mood to it which I quite like, and a purposefully simplified design aesthetic which also appeals to me.
