Somehow I've got to find a (super-cheap) easy reader version of The Hobbit by tomorrow evening. Like that 3-D pop-up version what-have-you. Don't fail me, library!

Also, read Stephanie Zacharek's very nice review at Salon; and definitely, definitely be sure to read Mary Anne Johnson's review at FlickFilosopher, since she says what I wanted to say, but more of it and better.

Went to see Public Enemies last night with naeelah; it didn't totally succeed, but it was pretty good. I'm not a crazed Mann fangirl, but he ( Read more... )

Conversations that will never happen, but should:
[1] Sheldon (TBBT) and Reid (three Ph.Ds; CM): Ph.D-off, go!
[2] Bill and Kim, Freaks & Geeks. Tell me you would not pay to see that one.

naeelah and I watched Pretty in Pink and the next-to-last episode of ST:TNG S3 last night while crafting. After watching the PiP extras, I'm a lot less averse to the ( Read more... )

    Food for Fannish Thoughts:

More from taraljc, " Warning: Unpopular Fannish Opinions Ahead; Shields to Max", on Uhura's presentation, and saying what I wish I'd said re:Amanda Grayson, and, uh, a certain pairing that's the biggest part of the nuTrek fic craving that's (possibly literally) eating my brain right now:

I think a big part of Uhura's role is, ( Read more... )

  • a super-duper Star Trek post

I know Kirk=Captain, but since this is officially Official AU canon, I would have loved it if they'd stuck with Captain Spock for a little longer. You'd still get Spock and Kirk balancing each other out, but that change-up would have been awesome and you know it.

Well, I was determined to find a bunch of caps for Star Trek ... and I did: 8579 ( Read more... )

[1] Finally remembered to watch, mostly by, er, suddenly flipping past it, We Shall Remain (the PBS/American Experience five-part docu series about, you guessed it, the "American experience" specifically from a variety of Native perspectives) last night, on it's next-to-last episode, "Geronimo". The last episode, "Wounded Knee", airs next ( Read more... )

I have done absolutely jack-all today, when there was a lot of non-comfort reading that I needed to do, and I'm hoping the clouds of mental fuzz part enough to finish this post, unlike the half-dozen others that still haven't gotten off the ground.
