I just got by sms the code to download the draft information to do all my
taxes. I still don't have an electronic ID reader to fill the papers online, nor an digital certificate, but with the draft information and my signature I can do everything on a printed paper and go to my bank.
I've checked my draft already. I'm just a little dismayed to find all the money I could deduct if my mortgage was deductable: If it was the place where I live. I would get about 3000 euros back from Mr. Taxman. Anyway, the rent of the appartment doesn't add up, because I pay more in taxes and condominium expenses than I get from my renter, so it's a financial loss. I still have to download the
Padre (Programa de Ayuda para la Declaración de la REnta) program and make the complete calculations
Good news is that 2008 was the year where I've earned the most money in my life. A pity it's mostly invested in the appartment.
BTW, I visited the
appartment neighbourhood with Dominique yesterday. He was quite surprised to find that the neighbourhood was centric: it's on the same street as La Pedrera, albeit 1.5 km from it, as well as remarkably quiet and close to a bus stop, a metro station, two libraries, two municipal sport facilities and a major hospital. Besides vising the interior of the block (which is a small park), we visited the Escola Industrial complex, which is on the street above. It's usually half a college campus, half official buildings, but with gardens and a huge swimming pool. You can tell I'm quite eager to move in there.
