Mini-rant

Why is Google obsessed with setting all my stuff into Spanish/Spain options? I want Catalan language and international content. I need no absurd news about how Spain is performing in the Olympics, nor the latest stupid anti-catalan flaming wars. I'd rather read about the Georgia problems from quite a number of sources. That's what Google news is supposed to be about, isn't it? Nope. I get redirected ALWAYS to Google Noticias España and how the Spanish Olympic team is performing (which I don't care) and how greedy Catalans are for asking for a fair tax redistribution for the whole country.

The Spanish language does not need to count me as one of its speakers, there are plenty more, and since I have the chance, I love to use everything I can in one of my two own languages. The other, which is big enough, needs nothing from me. If not, I prefer English, because I'd rather improve my usage of English. Don't think I hate spanish. I use it whenever I want and, for instance, with friends and family, or when watching 80% of the media here, or certain contents.

The thing comes from my IP, I know... I use an address that shows .ES at the end. Ok, but since when does that mean we all want to use Spanish? Doesn't Google/MSN/Yahoo realize that there's more than a language per country in Europe? I guess not.

Just sayin', because I have set my locale options for Google for the 3rd time this morning on Firefox. Even Google.cat appears in Spanish! I have decided to give up on IE, where even LJ appears partially in Spanish and I have no options to toggle it (and I've tried).

And now, there's no windows in Catalan. Nor Mac. And the xubuntu distribution I have at home is just partially in Catalan.

computer stuff, catalan, rant
