Eight days rant

Jan 21, 2008 20:49

For the past eight days, I have gotten up at 6 AM, eaten breakfast, and rushed off to work by 6:30. I have gotten to the hotel by about 6:56 and have changed into my uniform and clocked in by 7:05. I have then worked my ass off while everyone around me sticks their thumbs up their asses and complained loudly and boringly that they are bored. I have gotten off work anywhere from 2:30 to 3:00. I have restrained myself from slapping one person when she is complaining about her crappy life so many times I doubt there is even a number for it. *seriously, if you're not happy, fucking change your life. No one else is going to do it for you, you pansy* I have stolen bits of food to make myself an interesting lunch every day, and I have invented many many awesome drinks to enjoy (favorite so far: 8 oz cranberry juice, 4 oz orange juice, 4 oz sprite). I have restrained myself from rolling my eyes when people tell me that said drink would be perfect with some vodka. I have enjoyed working with my boss, Ed, while having to listen to everyone else complain about him nonstop.
In short, I am very, VERY glad that I have the next three days off.
What is it about working with a bunch of females that just irritates me? Why do they feel the need to gossip back and forth about every detail? It just frustrates me to have the same bit of tiny information discussed and chewed on until there is no flavor in talking to these people. I would just like one real discussion on something that matters. Not hearing the tale about how one person threw away a piece of assitate over and over. Times two as I'm getting it from both sides. I would like a debate about books, movies, philisophy, religion. Anything. My creative mind is flourishing, but my academic mind is starving for something to talk about other than who fucked who the other night, who hasn't gotten laid in 4 months, what they did in a drunken stupor the other night, etc.

In other news, the dinner for everyone went pretty well. The idea was pretty cool, but I need to fine-tune it a bit. I think next time I'll have an awesome desert that's a little more time intensive. I kinda copped out of this one as I wasn't sure how quickly the pasta thing would go and I needed something fast. Maybe a meringue pie? Those usually go over pretty well. Hm. I think I will start doing this more regularly if everyone will humor me. It was fun. ^_^
Tomorrow I have an optomitrist appt. I'm totally excited about it as it means that I will get to have contacts yet again. No more ring of vision, no more fogging up in the proofbox, no more getting caught on the flaps in the cooler. Oh contacts, I have missed you so! *gets teary, tears fall on lenses, must remove lenses and wipe them off so I can see again. damn glasses*
