I was scouting around on the net (
Wikipedia) to check some info of the type of Irises I had. I learnt that the flower takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colours found among the many species of Irises.
So, this set of "Bearded Iris" blooms are from the
Church garden. An elderly gentleman grows these as a hobby. He loves looking at them and holding them tenderly. Often, Elsa and I go there and watch him. While she is busy looking at the squirrels in the nearby tree (try to spot her in the pictures), I sit down and chat with him. He feels very proud when I appreciate all the blooms and he goes on to tell me what he planted the years before and also, shows me what he is planting this year. Apart from these flowers, he has planted several vegetables, which he plans to give to the church. They feed several homeless people everyday here. Here’s a peek at his handiwork.
The Blue and Purple set
The Yellow set
Unlike, the rest.. this is a beardless Iris.
Pink and white set
My Lily bulbs have begun to sprout. Am not sure what colour the blooms would be, as i planted an assortment of bulbs. Most likely, that would be the next set of flowers you'll will see.
