It is definitely on for tonight, so come out and party...
Friday, October 7 :: Blocktoberfest :: Oktoberfest, Tailgating and Block Party All Rolled into One! :: 5:30pm-12:30am :: Outside on Pratt Street
What do you get when you combine the best beer holiday in the world with the biggest UConn football game of the season? A pretty good excuse to get out and kick it in the streets! October 7th, beginning at 5pm, Vaughan's Public House is closing down Pratt Street and opening up the taps to host the first ever Blocktoberfest.
Festivities will take place before, during and after the UConn versus Syracuse football game at Rentschler Field. Those lucky enough to have tickets are invited to "tailgate" outside on Pratt Street - with food and drink from Vaughan's, of course. There will even be shuttle buses to take fans safely to the game, then back to the celebration after the game. Fans without tickets are invited to join the tailgating fun and then stick around and catch the action on Vaughan's giant 60-inch TV.
During Blocktoberfest, Vaughan's menu will feature German specials, including a number of select Oktoberfest beers on tap and a selection of traditional German fare. Scheduled entertainment for the event will rock the block all night long and includes Two Piece Nastee at 5pm & 10pm, Shag Frenzy DJs at 7pm and Pete Scheips Band at 8pm. Vaughan's will also be giving away free prizes and t-shirts.
A suggested $5 donation will be requested upon entry to Blocktoberfest. Proceeds will benefit the
Greater Hartford Arts Council, which helps make downtown events like this possible.
