Squeee! I'm still feeling a bit too emotional for intelligent commentary, but really enjoyed your analysis here. The episode was far from perfect and I agree the main negatives were the forced Clois angst and the whole idea that Clark was forgetting about his past by selling the farm and shutting off the FOS. But whatever, when the show did get rolling, it was FANTASTIC. The wedding was beautiful but not overblown, the Clex confrontation was all I could hope for and Clark's first flight was brilliantly conceived. So kudos show - I'll miss you!

The ep really picked up in the second half, didn't it. And the last ten minutes, I thought, were beautifully done, plotholes and all, heh.

I think the memory wipe worked, but only short term. I can't believe that the goop would be so selective to only target the memories of childhood, even then of Clark, because umm....it doesn't work like that.

Even if he doesn't fully regain his memories, as someone said over on my instra reaction post, there'll be part of Lex that will always recognise Clark, even if he doesn't know why. a part that is drawn to him.....Future!Clex anyone!

Yeah, I mean, who's to really say it worked? It wasn't exactly proven conclusively.

I like that!

// That was an extremely emotional, and triumphant last ten minutes of the show. //
Yes! I don't know if you've checked out Beeman's blog post on the finale yet or not but the he really sweated those last five minutes.

It wasn't perfect but it was satisfying. And that's an ending I'm more than happy to take.

It had my eyes rolling many a time but never pissed me off.

Having Lex back was a great treat even if his return was a bit contrived and the mind wipe was a cheat. (His intel on Clark isn't written down anywhere?)

So sad to see Tess die but she had a fitting end.

A lot of people seem let down by the lack of an epic Clark/Darkseid fight but it didn't bother me at all. The SV take made Darkseid more of a psychological threat than a physical one. So it made sense to me that most of the battle would be Clark getting his head straight. And while that worked for the finale it did make him, as you observed, pretty much the worst season long big bad the show has ever seen ever saw.

Wow. I can't believe it's over.

Umm I wish I could write a coherent comment but I'm all like yay show. LOL. I will say I don't understand the intro to Darkseid at all they really, really dropped the ball however they more than made up for it with the ending of the show. The way it ended, the last scene was perfect. *sigh* I'm going to miss bitching about the show.

Heh! Getting a long rant out in response to a bad ep was always quite cathartic.

The Darkseid thing was just one big mess. I don't think the show knew at all what to do with it.

No they really didn't. I kind of get what they were doing but it wasn't quite successful to say the least. I'll still miss SV.
