You like this better than I did. I like that Lois was shown as an individual character outside of her relationship with Clark . I liked the Lois and Tess scenes...I think these two women have the best chemistry on the show. The rest of it was meh, Something was lost in the in the translation due to the direction or the editing. The Chick that played Mera is very beautiful however she stank at the acting part of along with the guy who played AC. As for the actor playing Slade, all I could see was John McCain in the face and it was distracting. The very best part of this episode imo after the scene in Watchtower was the upcoming scenes for Luthor.
I'll be back with more comments but something that occurred to me while reading your review is that this first half of season 10 seems far messier and unevenly executed than the first halves of season 8 & 9. Which is weird to me as we have the same creative team.
I don't know what it is with this season, but all I know is, that on the whole? Aside from some moments of brilliance scattered throughout the eps, there's only been one, full one I've truly loved, and that was 'Ambush.' Whereas by this point in S8 and 9, there were multiple eps that I'd tremendously enjoyed.
//You didn't miss anything. It was another one of those offscreenville reveals to Lois that we've been getting this season, and that I am well past tired of at this point
( ... )
//I didn't like it that Lois was given the impression that Clark had been contemplating it for a while and hadn't brought it up to her because that's not what happened.//
I hadn't considered this, but you're very right - this was a skewed impression that Oliver gave Lois here. Just one of the many instances of poor writing for Oliver, and poor writing in general, in this one, IMO.
I can definitely see what you're saying. There are very few times I can point out too, where it actually appears, unequivocally that Oliver likes Clark. I do think there have been moments, but few and far between, IMO. It's one of those areas where TPTB have collosally failed, because there was such potential in the Clark/Oliver relationship, even as late as upto S8. But its been pretty badly squandered. As it stands, wrt Oliver now, I just hold out hope for eps where he doesn't actively aggravate me. If I end up liking something here or there, then that's just a bonus.
I did my screentimes last night, but I am dragging my feet on posting a review. I think its because the episode is such a mess to me, and I'm having trouble putting into words just why it bugs me so much. But you've managed to hit on some of the issues that I had
( ... )
//I did like when Clark said something to the effect of "and which of us isn't vulnerable". I can wrap my head around a possible darkness in EVERYONE, because everyone has doubts and fears. Making it seem like Clark was some sort of weak link was just messed up

Heh! So true!
I didn't catch the trailer - I very rarely do. But I'm really, really hoping for a good ep after the last couple of disappointing weeks.
