After his
clinic shift, Trevor came straight back to his apartment to continue working on his transporter belt.
There had to be a way to get it working again. Even in his future, this kind of machinery wasn't that complicated. Definitely not complicated enough to bring him to Fandom, that was certain. The damn thing wouldn't even bring him to his own lab half of the time, which should have been his first clue that it was poor workmanship to begin with.
Trevor slipped the belt around himself, using his body to hold the thing in its proper shape while he tweaked a few of the wires. All he was hoping for was a simple sign of power, so he was more than a little surprised when the dizzying effect of transportation hit him. He shut his eyes out of sheer habit, and when he opened them...well, it took a few moments of staring before he fully accepted that he was back in his home, in Bregna.
He was still staring when he heard a voice behind him say, "Hey, what are you looking at?" Trevor turned around and broke into an almost instant grin when he saw that it was Oren.
"Oren?" he said in disbelief. "I thought I wasn't going to see you again. You haven't changed at all."
"What, in the last five minutes?" Oren asked, giving Trevor a look of growing confusion. "And what do you mean, you weren't going to see me again? I'm not going on business until the weekend."
Trevor didn't respond at first, still trying to process the concept of home as he went over to his desk and grabbed the first dated paper he could find. Everything was exactly as he'd left it almost a year ago, and when he checked the date, he realized it was almost a year ago, February 15th. It was as though he'd never left.
When he put the paper back, Trevor noticed that he was still wearing the transporter belt, and he pulled it off quickly, before it could send him back to Fandom again. Oren came over to him, regarding him cautiously, and put his hand on Trevor's shoulder as though to steady him. "Trevor? Are you all right?"
Outside, a new day was starting in Bregna, and for Trevor, it felt like a whole new start again. "Yes," he replied as he started laughing. "I'm wonderful."
[And with that, Trevor has left the building. *waves goodbye to the handsome doctor*]
