Chapter 1: Confusion [Video]

Jun 04, 2011 20:26

[ Alright. So, I've concluded that I'm definitely not in Japan. Or, well, it doesn't really seem like I'm anywhere. Which would mean that Ryuk did in fact kill me and I'm in the realm of the Shinigami. And that means that anyone else that's here must also be a previous user of a Death Note, and they're sharing a similar fate ( Read more... )

Oh, I'm from the Kanto region. I take it you're also from Japan, then?

The last thing I remember?

[ Finishing writing a day's worth of criminals in the Death Note, but I can't mention that, now can I? ]

Well, I had just come home from a date and I went to bed. So I gather I was abducted in my sleep.

[ Somebody here from Denmark, huh? Seems like people from all over the world are here. But for what purpose? ]

Ah, well it's nice to meet you! Your parents had an interesting taste in names, I take it?

Something about the way you say that makes me think you've been through this conversation countless times.

[ ...This is quite a lot to take in. These locals all seem practically lethargic to my message. So this must happen a lot. I imagine that most of what this says is true, which changes everything. I'll have to spend some time thinking about all of this... and where are the Shinigami? Or, more importantly, where my Death Note is? ]

Thanks. Did you write this?

No, the person who did ain't around anymore. Questions?

Given the behavior of most people around here it would make sense that something like this would be created just to be handed out to people who allegedly share my fate.

However, even if everything this says is true, this document doesn't seem to touch down on what it is exactly that we're doing here.

A pleasure to meet you, Mister Light. Welcome to Discedo. I'm Cube and I work at the hospital, here. I've also have had the pleasure of living in Japan, just before arriving here. However, I've been to many places.

I would suggest you find some sort of shelter in one of the inhabited apartment buildings or at the School. I'm currently at the hospital, and you may take refuge here until you get your barrings. I'll be glad to assist you elsewhere, should you need it.

I've attached a map: Here

[ So I was right. These people have organized enough to create informational handouts for new arrivals. So I can at least know that some of the information is correct. Or, that the entire community shares the same psychoses. ]

Ah! Well, thank you very much.

So there is a working hospital here, then? That's a comforting thought.

You're very welcome.

[So strange how well light is taking this. It's confusing to Cube but he simply smiles.... until the hospital comment. how he is all nervous]

W-well, we try to make things work. It's taken a long while but at least there is electricity at the hospital and heat during the colder months. Our supplies aren't very high but, it's enough to scrape by most days.

Do you have any questions?

Still, the thought of a functioning hospital in such a place is impressive enough alone. I'm sure you do good work there. I do have a couple of questions though.

How many work with you in the hospital, and where do your supplies come from?

You sure are asking a lot of questions out of the blue. You know, maybe not all people would want to answer something like that.

... I guess I don't mind telling that I come from a dump named Sotoba, though. Also in Japan.

[ Another from Japan. Interesting. Though, I can't say I care for her attitude. Ah, well. Women. ]

I can completely understand that it may be unwelcome, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what the situation is here! And I figured trying to be productive would have been a refreshing change to the bewildered and confused that wander through here that you all seem so prepared for.

Either way it's a pleasure to meet you, ...?

... Well, I can say you're right on that one. It's pretty annoying having to listen to all those clueless people over and over again. But then again, when is there anything of worth here on this network, seriously?

... Megumi. Megumi Shimizu.

Most people seem to feel the same way, whether they voice it or not.

So what do you do around here, Megumi?
