48 hour take home exam, all sources (aside from classmates) are fair game (though it's warned that materials not covered in class are likely to be more harmful than helpful). Here's an idea...how about if you're going to have a test that asks students to "identify the author" you don't give it to a group of people sometimes referred to as the Google generation.
I just hope getting the author gets me some points. Getting the author right and a coherent paraphrase of the selections should score me an easy B. It also helps that for some of these, the following paragraph of the article is an explanation of the quotation we're being tested on. Cut out the 1600s jargon and references to famine in Bengal, add in a slightly more conversational tone and bingo-bango...you're pretty much done.
