Program(s)+version: Adobe Photoshop CS4
Involves:Animation,Fonts,Colors
Translatable: Yes to PSP, But not the animation
Steps: 10-20 Steps
Difficulty: Easy

I see a lot of people asking to do certain types of techniques so I figured I would take a shot at making my own tutorial of 1 of the ways to make this Icon I know like 3 but this is the easiest to me. Its not as good as some Icons but it will get some people on the right track!

I would love to see what you guys came up with!

So today we are going to make this Icon I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 and it transfers to PSP Except for the animation

1.First I will be using this 100x100 Texture which I Can be found here
(make sure to unlock the layer by double clicking on the layer and pressing ok)

2. Make a new layer

3. I add my flower Brush called Plumeria which you can find Here

-Make sure you set the color to white and you have this:

(just click on Pic to make larger)

4. next you are going to go to Filter>Sharpen and then Filter>Sharpen More and now you can see the difference.

5.Since I already know what color I want to use #80abc3 Im going to go ahead and add a drop shadow to my flowers.

-Right-click on your flower layer and click on Blending options

-Check and click on Drop Shadow and have everything set as so:

-Check and Click on outer Glow and have everything set as so: (use screen or overlay whatever you like better)

6.Now I am going to add my font I use 04b24

-Make sure the text is white

-Go to your blending options and stroke your font 1px I was taught to make the stroke color a light gray, but for this Icon I use the color I used in the drop shadow of my flowers. #80abc3, I also like to bevel & Emboss > Outer Bevel and add an outer glow using the above color.

7. Go ahead and finish all your text and this what I have come up with:

-I used the font 2Peas Typo for the Word heart

-Because someone asked Im going to explain how to do the effect to the word heart (let me know if I confuse you)
- Instead of making the font white, make it the color you are using in my case it would be #80abc3
-go to Blending options and do the following settings:
-Inner Glow: make sure its white
-Bevel & Emboss: Outer Bevel, change the color to the color you are using
-Stroke: 1px, and the color you are using

8. Now I dont think its light enough for my standards

-I make a new layer

-Fill with a darker color I used #19587b

-Set it to Screen

-Now that looks a lot better!

9.Now some people like animation so Im going to add some sparkle (this part does not convert to PSP)

-Create a new layer

-im using the sparkles from here

-create another new layer and add a couple more sparkles

-go to Blending options and add an (white) outer glow to your sparkles

-Now go to window> Animation and your animation box should open

-Now this is a little tricky to explain click on the first layer in your animation box and click on the second layer of sparkles and click the little eye it go away.

-Now you are going to do it Again for the other layer just the opposite

-Click on the First layer & Second Layer again in the Animation Box and set the Sec. to 2
( I know it says 5 on my pic but it moves to slow)

-Hit the tween button (3 little dots) for the first frame and make 3 frames (make sure it says tween with next frame)

-Hit the very last frame and Tween it with 3 frames (make sure it says tween with first frame)

-Hit play and watch your animation

- I like to File>Save For Web that way you can see the size of your file (Icons must not exceed 40 KB)

-Make sure to Tag you work and your done!
