Grill recommendations

B and I are considering purchasing a new grill this year. Our old one is starting to fall apart. I'm sure it still has some good use left in it, but it's frustrating the cook enough that all he does is complain. Since he's the one bringing in the money right now, I figure he's got the final say.

Anyhow, I vaguely recall AB saying at one time that a thermometer on the hood isn't a reliable instrument, but I'm not 100% sure I'm remembering that correctly. B says he wants one with the thermometer but I say they're just a waste of money since those models tend to cost more, and that probes or guns are better. Am I wrong?

In any case, when we grill, we grill big (and I mean BIG). Living in Texas, he doesn't like to grill too often in the heat, but he loves to take leftovers to work for lunch, so we tend to use up a lot of real estate when we grill. We also tend to grill more when we have company instead of just for the two of us. We don't want a tiny grill, but then again we don't need anything industrial sized, either. He says something with about three burners or so.

Any foodies out there with recommendations?
