I was browsing the local library for Good Eats episodes when I came upon a title called A Tale of Two Roasts. Intrigued, I decided to check it out.
Turns out its two versions of the episode 'Family Roast.'
The first version is the one that aired on the Food Network but with a director's commentary ... said director being AB himself.
The second is an unaired version of the episode with a normal dialogue track. While its very similar to the TV version -- there are some dialogue differences -- the major difference is it was mostly shot in BA's less than ideal kitchen, unlike the kitchen set used in the TV version during Season ... 5, I think? BA is also featured at the end of the episode instead of calling AB as he does in the TV version.
The other feature is a behind the scenes meet the crew sort of documentary. I dont believe its aired on TV as I didnt recognize it as such, but I could be wrong.
The DVD is part of the HUGE Good Eats DVD set being sold on the Food Network website for a whopping $472. Im not rich, so I got it out of the library instead. I highly recommend you do, too.
Anyway ... was wondering if anyone else has seen this and what they thought if they had. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Happy viewing.
