After talking with our friends with kids we found that most had to let their kids cry to get them to sleep through the night. We also read a book that advocates this method and a book that does not advocate it. So, we broke down and tried the cry it out method.
Tuesday Night... loud crying from 12:24 to 12:43, parents in agony but resisted urge to comfort him
Wednesday Morning... Izzy was covered with dried spit up, probably from crying so much, patents feel guilty but Izzy was still full of smiles ***note the spit up might not have had anything to do with the crying since it was the first time he ate carrots and he spit the carrots up again the next day
Wednesday Night... loud crying from 1:12 to 1:23, parents grateful it didn't last as long as the night before
... then mild crying from 4:34 to 4:39, parents happy that he wasn't crying as hard
Thursday Morning...Izzy full of smiles and no spit up
Thursday Night... two small disruptions of crying that were very short and mild, parents pretty much slept through them
According to our friends experiences tonight he should sleep completely through the night. Our experience has been similar to our friends so far...
I never thought I would agree to this method but it does seem to be working.
