Because people are paranoid, I should explain that this is about three things I saw on my friends page today, all relating to friends cuts ( Read more... )

I couldn't agree more. I, also, have been defriended by people who were offended by something I posted.

Yeah. Right. Whatever, man.

Fun thing is, once I went friends only, I don't get bothered by any of the defriending stuff anymore. I know who my close LJ friends are, and they'll stick with me no matter what. Generally, though, I see my journal more as a fandom journal, and everybody can come and go as they please. Posts that used to be public back then are locked now, posts that used to be locked are filtered anyways, even though I hardly filter at all - I post fannish stuff almost only anyway. The only reasons my journal is locked is because I'm paranoid. The contecnt is offered for entertainment most of all (MINE first, others next *g*), and if somebody lost interest and/or doesn't feel entertained and wants to leave, so be it. No hard feelings. And I really do live that attitude. Sometimes, people even come back.

Not sure any of this is making any sense of you - but it's like you said, it's my journal and I post whatever I want to, and I also handle things the way I want to. So far, it works fine for me ;)

It makes a lot of sense. I like your 'come and go' approach. There's someone really awesome who was on my friends list, whose posts are full of things I can't really read right now, but I hope I can find them again when the dust settles. I should really just have filtered I suppose.
