Stayed up late last night watching and geeking about Supernatural with
virtualschmelz and Surly. Got some good, solid sleep--so solid that i didn't know the cat was standing on me until she stuck her nose into my eye--and then woke to a piece on NPR about Second Life.
Today's plans include seeing people and watching the IU-O. State game. Interestingly enough, the ticket office is very optimistic about today's game against the top-ranked team in the nation--they called yesterday to try to sell me tickets to next week's Michigan State game (which i might just take them up on), and in the conversation mentioned something about how "we expect this to be the game where IU becomes bowl eligible." Hmmm...that would require us to win today, as we've only got 4 wins so far. Well hey--go optimism!1 I'm curious to see how well we play against O. State--whether we let them intimidate us off the bat or whether we come out all sorts of confident, and how long that lasts.
Finally, the end of
Ramadan is this weekend--as my friend Nora put it, 'whenever they look at the moon and decide to call it right.' I think that explains something about the last few weeks--Ramadan started on the fall equinox, which is when things got spiritually interesting. (Ramadan, for the record, is based on the Islamic calendar, so it moves around in relation to our year.) I'm not surprised to find out that the last month has been super-holy and super-blessed in Islam.
Anyway, i'm off to get things done before the game starts at noon. At least it's in Columbus, so i won't have to deal with stadium traffic today.
