WHAT IS THIS, IT IS HORRIFIC. I think they were probably going for sultry and sexy? But as usual, everything to do with a TVD photoshoot is photoshopped within an inch of its life so nothing looks natural or real anymore. jesus. I have so much second-hand embarrassment for everyone involved.

Also, Entertainment Weekly, NO:

The Vampire Diaries is just the latest in a long line of shows attracting a large shipper fan base. So who are these fans called shippers, and why do they do what they do? In this week’s issue, Jeff “Doc” Jensen explores these questions and offers a detailed history of the shipper phenomenon, from Star Trek and X-Files to today’s hit shows from Bones, Fringe, Castle, and Once Upon a Time - and explains how showrunners do and don’t factor in shipper input while plotting their characters’ fates.

I always feel weird when journalists try and tackle shipping? Like we're some sort of mutant bug that needs to be put under a microscope and dissected. Can't we just live comfortably under the radar in locked journals, writing each other porn fic of dubious copyrighted value, and shipping incest? I mean. The world does not need to know these things happen. (This is why Twitter routinely gives me nightmares - BUT WHAT IF SOMEONE TWEETS THEIR RPF TO NINA/IAN/PAUL? THAT WOULD BE THE WORST.)

I also get uncomfortable when showrunners talk about pleasing the shippers? What I want way more than my ship being "endgame" is for the writers to stay true to their vision and write their show so I can watch a really good story.

ANYWAY ANYWAY SINCE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT:

Leave me a character and I'll tell you my top 3 ships for them.

why world why, the vampire diaries, shipping
