Ugh doing a work project right now that is killing my soul. So let me talk about The Vampire Diaries instead.

THERE ARE NO BAD PLANS, ONLY POORLY EXECUTED AWESOME ONES.

I loved this episode for a lot of reasons (although I really am finding myself super bored by Bonnie/Jeremy). But my favorite part was seeing Damon and Stefan's relationship in 1864. I think it helped me to really understand just why Stefan is constantly protecting Damon. I think he partially blames himself for why Damon is the way that he is because as Lexie predicted, Damon let his anger and resentment towards his brother take him over and he lost his humanity. Also, Stefan knows that Damon can be redeemed because Stefan himself was once like Damon before Lexie saved him.

ALSO, Elena was awesome.

And I think that Alaric/Jenna are painfully boring, so I was actually pleased with Uncle John stirring up trouble.

But also: KATHERINE. WHAT. I can't decide if she's there because she wants to make sure that Elena is around so that she can give Elena to Klaus or if she's there because she wants to actually work with the Salvatores to stop Klaus. Either way, I'm intrigued.

YESSSSSSSSSSS ALL THIS. This was a total light bulb moment for me, re: Stefan's characterization. In fact I am writing a big huge meta about it because that's how I roll.

ELENA WAS SO BADASS, I CAN'T EVEN. She has got so much fiercer as the series has progressed, but in what feels like a pretty natural and organic way idk.

But also: KATHERINE. WHAT. I can't decide if she's there because she wants to make sure that Elena is around so that she can give Elena to Klaus or if she's there because she wants to actually work with the Salvatores to

-Andie and Damon’s relationship is the most unsettling thing. D: I like the way the actress played it though, like Andie was in this weird drug induced state for most of the episode. Doesn’t mean I didn’t still cringe at all their scenes together.
Weird is the wrong word, Alaric. CREEPY IT IS. So so creepy.

-I think it’s cute that even when in the midst of an argument and also telling the story of that one time he killed a lot of people, Stefan is still considerate enough to bring his girlfriend some tea:

I especially love the scene where she gets to Stefan’s and looks so disappointed by his body count and he’s totally shifting awkwardly and looking away like he forgot to do his homework and OMG CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE CIRCLE OF VAMPIRE PARENTING HERE. YEAH I have been thinking about this a lot because I do like Alaric (and sometimes I like Damon) but I can't ignore the in-your-face problems re: Andie and the way Damon is compelling her. UGH TVD WHY DO YOU DOOOO THIS.

-Bonnie and Jeremy’s chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS in this episode and I was pretty much going “omg just make out already” through the whole thing even though I don’t even know if I ship it yet? But then Bonnie said she needed to talk to Elena first and Jeremy looked so disappointed and AW YOU TWO KIDS.

And, hey, if you start shipping them, we would actually have a ship in common on this show!

I was kinda disappointed in the flashbacks. Except the Damon parts. But I was expecting them to be more epic. The opening was pretty good, but then Lexi was a sparkly magic vampire of choosing to only help Stefan with her magical sparkly conversation and it made me go a little 'meh' on her and feel less bad about Damon killing her in S1 (elaboration: with Stefan, here, she's all "you are the bad parts and I want to heal you" and with Damon, in S1, she's all "you are the bad parts and fuck off and dieWith Alaric, IDK. I wonder if he feels like Elena has the authority over whether or not to tell Jenna the truth (because Elena and Jenna have known

Well, think of the timing. Stefan had been a vampire for only a few weeks or so and was much more susceptible to hearing what she had to say.

Damon has been a vampire for over a hundred years and still doesn't have it in him not to rape and abuse the women around him.

And Lexi was happy to let Damon walk out the door back in 1864, while she coddled the guy who was doing the massive and messy killing. Lexi could have chosen to reach out to both brothers and she didn't.

Maybe she did it because she figured that Damon had more of a handle on things than Stefan did, I don't know. But it did sour me on her a bit.

So? It's not her obligation to. Stefan was the one acting out and being very dangerous, on top of actually seeming to connect with her. Damon was shutting everyone else out.

One thing that completely floored me was they didn't cut off Elijah's head. Considering what happened last time *and* where the info in killing him came from I would have cut off his head, chop him into bits, burn the bits, then scatter the ashes in rivers, lakes, and maybe even the ocean....

ITA with everything you said. Lexie being back was the best thing ever! Katherine there are no words for how much I love my BB. Anytime you think you have putplayed her she is two steps ahead of you.
