Looks like the federal government is
going to enact back-to-work legislation for the Ottawa strike. It only took until the 50th day! Man, I'm sooo glad that I've been spared the misery the transit strike has wreaked on Ottawa for a few days.
Hilariously, I've been predicting for ages that all it would take would be two days of Parliament being back in session before enacting back-to-work legislation. (Usually this would be a provincial matter, but since the Ottawa buses also run to Quebec, only the federal government has jurisdiction. LOL s. 91 and s. 92 of the Constitution!)
Obama is coming to Canada on February 19! No word yet on specifics, but he'll *probably* be in Ottawa since it's the capital and all. (Heee. Speculation is that Obama is the *real* reason the strike Must Now End. I'm so proud!) I should... do something! Like go and ask if he's actually Saxon on
shinyopals behalf. Or in the very least go and protest something! I'm not sure what yet, but it'll be good.
Also, I'm hoping Stephen Harper might cry because Canadians like Obama better than him. This is because Obama is a celebrity and Stephen Harper is a robot with unruffable hair.
ETA: OH! And Canada's government is no longer in crisis. It looks like the
Liberals will support the Conservative budget. In other words, Canada is now boring again. *pets it*
