I don't really have time to watch anime lately - I'm horribly behind on the stuff I was watching, thanks to an influx of retro anime. I had intended to be watching Durarara! but ended up downloading, burning, and putting it away... Still haven't finished RomeoXJuliet... or Gankutsuou...

The Bleach anime is back out of filler, by the way. Has been for a bit, though I suspect we'll be back in again soon. DB stopped subbing it; Crunchier is not bad replacement.

I'm reading more manga than I can remember right now, so here are a few noteworthy ones.

Psyren - still awesome. Hopefully they'll animate it. It gets a lot of flack for being Bleach-like, which is fair I guess. Fighting team, team of villains, escalating powers and training... But people who skip it because they don't like Bleach are going to miss out on some really cool sci-fi timetravel stuff. And espers! Always espers.

Wolf Guy: Wolfen Crest - the style of this werewolf manga is kinda awesome, switching from manic, wild and sometimes ugly scribblings to calm refined linework as needed for the plot. It creates a genuine, dark mood. The main character is Inugami, a highschooler who seems cursed to bring harm to those around him. He seems to draw hostility and aggression no matter where he goes. For a while, it isn't clear if he is actually a werewolf, but he does shapeshift at the full moon, and almost any injury he sustains heals swiftly.
There is very little cheer in this story. All humans he encounters are portrayed as either doe-like innocents or twisted, raving madmen. Inugami does his best to try and stay cold and detached, the noble werewolf, trying to leave the humans to their own devices.... but the humans just keep getting mixed up with him, despite his attempts to keep them away.
The down (or up) side of this manga is that it contains a hell of a lot of graphic, violent, mature content despite being edited. If you don't want to see... well, anything questionable, you might want to avoid this.

Ten no Ryuu Chi no Sakura - in stark contrast to the previous review, Ten no Ryuu is pretty shoujo goodness with bishie dragon shapeshifters. It's not completed yet and I'm not sure the translators haven't ditched the project. I hope they finish it.

Speaking of shoujo, some translation group picked Masca back up... er... I hope they get better proofreaders soon.
