Weird! My boyfriend's uncle is in charge of TNT in the Middle East so I know they're legitimate.
Whenever I've ordered stuff from Canada to the UK, I too have to pay the duty but have never been given a form to claim it back. In fact, I even ordered a dress from ModCloth that didn't fit and had to return - after paying customs! It SUCKS! I never even know that I could claim the customs charges back so now I am pissed! Nice to know for the future.
Also, after reading this, I'm kinda nervous because I bought my Mom £140 of gift certificates for DUO!! LOL!
I had to call Canada Border Services to find out about the refund. I wouldn't have known otherwise, TNT said nothing about it to me, they said I have to try and get DUO to pay the customs charges (as if.)
You'd think an international courier company would know about dealing with customs charges. You'd also think they wouldn't do illegal things. I specifically asked the Canada customs agent if what they did was illegal and he said yes. They obviously did it to avoid returning the boots if I refused them.
I could sue them, I could sue them for the return postage, the long distance charges I had to incur for having to call them, and maybe even stress. I have had my adrenaline rushes which I haven't had in months at all, can't sleep, literally feel sick to my stomach cause this nightmare will not end. That may sound extreme but prolonged stress is really not good for me, I need to lead a very simple life which is why I don't work.
Btw, I know TNT is legit but it is still a shady company, at least the Canadian office. It is a very bad company and I am reporting them to the BBB. If you have any tips for me, I'd appreciate it.
Btw, if I liked the boots and did not have to return them they still would have cost $400 something in the end rather than $300 cause of the duty charges. Just so your mom knows.
sorry to bombard you. I thought you might be interested to hear that TNT has a F from BBB. They have had complaints against them and never resolved them:
