ATTENTION U OF GUELPH'S WOMEN’S STUDIES STUDENTS!!!!

Introducing FOOTNOTES: U of Guelph’s Undergraduate Feminist Journal!!

FOOTNOTES is a student-run initiative at the University of Guelph that gives undergraduate Women’s Studies students the opportunity to publish work in a feminist academic journal. The project has been conceived of as a capstone-course by upper-year students and is being overseen by Dr. Norman Smith, Women’s Studies Coodinator, Dr. Karen Houle and Dr. Jennifer Schacker.

This will be FOOTNOTES’ first year of publication and we are looking for your submissions!! While there are no pre-set themes for the journal, we are looking for papers that are written from a feminist perspective.

Submission Requirements:
- Papers must be academic in nature, may have been submitted for classes but cannot have been previously published nor can they be currently at another journal under consideration for publication
- Maximum 3000 words
- Text must be double-spaced and in 12-point font
- Submissions must include an abstract of 100 words
- Please include with your submission your name, program, year of study, and personal areas of interest/focus of studies
- If you are not enrolled in the Women’s Studies program (Major, Minor, or Area of Concentration), please provide a brief letter of 300 words or less explaining your interest in having your work included in FOOTNOTES

To submit a paper for consideration, four (4) hard copies should be received by Wednesday, February 6, 2008 before 4pm to Dr. Norman Smith’s office, MACK 2017 (History Department, in the extension of the MacKinnon building).

A collective of Women’s Studies students working under consensus decision-making will make final selections, along with input from course advisors. For more information, please feel free to contact the Footnotes collective at footnotes.journal@gmail.com
