so apparently the word on the street is that the list of approved dissertations is up on the board. i hope i got accepted! if only i knew then what i know now(then being when i submitted my plan) about rainer werner fassbinder & queer cinema then i'd be a shoo-in. guess that's life and hey, if i don't get it then i just have to attend more stupid lectures of stupid things i don't care about but which means less work for me. pros/cons and that. oh i had such a great saturday! it started off with a roast lamb lunch for one which was slightly depressing (because eating meat with you was such fun, you know). but it got better! i finally saw the trailer for 'shortbus', the new project by john cameron mitchell which was exciting just before i watched 'volver' which is seriously so amazing &beautiful and all that sort of stuff but its so trashy at points and sad and confusing mostly because penelope cruz is so fit and all her family are well ugly? the best movie since 'the squid and the whale'. i felt so inspired today by perfectly scripted cinema that i am about to sit down and knock out the script i've been working on in my head for so long. i need practice and if i don't get good soon then i seriously don't even know what i am going to do with my life (i guess everyone's dilemma at some point i.e. boring).
