What more it there to say? I saw La Vie en Rose yesterday at the Egyptian. It was the first show of the day, and the audience was about 10 older people and me. The movie tells the story of famous French singer Edith Piaf ("piaf" is French slang for sparrow) who lived from about 1916 to 1963. In true French fashion, it was about 20 minutes too long, and the story jumped around through different times for no particular reason. Overall, the story said some of the same old things about celebrity and the price of fame, and some interesting new things about what makes an artist strive for success and recognition. I enjoyed the film, but I would only recommend it for those who enjoy over two hours of reading subtitles.
