I made a list of the sorting results so you don't have to keep tabbing back and forth. If you'd like a House changed or want to add a character to the list, comment and I'll ( Read more... )

The mandrakes had officially grown up and were getting laid more often that the six and seventh years combined. Rowan walked down the rows that held the mandrakes, now either every pot bereft of its previous owner or now holding two ( ... )

Iseut studied her new lunascope as the stars danced above her head. It was best to go to the Astronomy Tower for this sort of thing, but years had taught her that it was best to avoid the Astronomy Tower if one did not want to wander into even more awkward situations than life normally afforded her ( ... )

There was a giant squid. He didn't believe the other students when they said so on the trip across the lake when they got to Hogwarts on the first day, but everyone he asked since then agreed. There was a giant squid in the lake.

Which meant, he decided with eleven-year-old certainty, that it was his job to face this monster. He was a Gryffindor, which meant he had to be brave against everything that scared him. Which, of course, included monsters.

A little while later some older students found him gasping at the edge of the lake, shaking and wet. They brought him to the medical wing immediately, and one stayed long enough to find out what had happened to scare the boy so, since he hadn't been near the Forbidden Forest.

She left a few minutes later laughing, because it might have been adorably misguided for a child to attack the harmless giant squid, the fact it was the squid patting him lightly on the head at his challenge that sent him in hysterics was amazing. This little muggle born will make for a great Gryffindor one ( ... )

Iseut sometimes worried that she was jaded, although she did not fit the technical definition of the word. Or perhaps she did, and being surrounded by people who were new to so much of the wizarding world when it did not matter as much to her was the textbook definition of being jaded.

She sat outside Honeydukes, after looking and finding nothing in there appealing to her at the moment, and watched the younger students exclaim over the sweets and bemoan what they were not able to get.

Had she ever been that excited over something? She couldn't remember.

It was a disconcerting thought.

Mallory remembered his first true duel. It wasn't any during his years at Hogwarts. Now, he looked back on many of them fondly and remembered how terrifying the sparks from the other boy's wand were when he wasn't much more than thirteen, or the creative charms that they liked to use when they were older and practicing with more than sparks.

He remembered the grim set of the woman's mouth as she sent curses after him, the way her dark bangs sat low on her head. His anger and fear when he realized that he did not know what half of the curses being sent his way were. The way her black robes rippled in the wind. The sound of her scream when he finally hit her with Petrificus Totalus and she fell over.

That she was not much older than he was at the time.

for my own reference of basic information -

Rowan - ravenclaw half muggle born that grew up knowing about both worlds but grew up primarily in the muggle world with the wizarding side of the family falling into all of the houses equally. his wand is a hornbeam with a dragon heartstring core. he has a cat, which is a total cuddlewhore that he bitches about but eyelasers anyone else that dares insult him

Iseut - ravenclaw pureblood with a family that is usually slytherin (but not of the dark arts side of things). her wand is willow with a unicorn core. she has a great gray owl that belonged to her brother, but she dotes on him when she can

Mallory - gryffindor muggle born who thinks all of this is the coolest and a long suffering mother who loves her son but looks at this entire wizarding thing suspiciously. his wand is ash with a dragon heartstring. he gets a barn owl in his third year, after begging his mother and trying to get her to understand that everyone has owls
