The Ledgers
The Ledgers are small leather-bound books handed out by the Golden Hour. These ledgers are connected, and anything written publicly in one can be read and responded to by anyone who possesses their own. They can also be filtered (to only the Golden Hour, for example, or from the King to his sister). To read more about how using the Ledgers works, see the Posting Guidelines.
To activate a Ledger, the owner must write their name on the front page. After that it becomes connected and the name written will be shown alongside with whatever the owner writes. The name doesn't have to be their full name or even their real name at all, but they must write one. Ledgers left blank will not activate.
The Ledgers are given out freely and to anyone, Others included. Their stated purpose is to advance communications in Balfour, but they were, in truth, manufactured solely to help the Golden Hour's experiments with Belief. With the Ledgers, a single piece of deliberate misinformation can reach the entire city at once, and the Hour has special agents devoted to encouraging and spreading specific rumours.
