Baseball Is Back

Man, it felt like it was still October last night. This time the Mets won!

Back in October I didn't want baseball to end. I wanted the summer of 06 to go on forever. It was the summer the Mets kicked ass. It was the summer I quit my job. It was the summer I said FU to everyone, packed my bags and spent a week in Florida by myself. I thought I'd never be able to get into hockey after that summer. And yet, on October 19th, game 7 of the NLCS, I was at an empty Nassau Coliseum watching the Isles/Pens game and not at a packed Shea Stadium watching the Mets end that magical summer. Endy Chavez made the greatest catch in Mets history and the Isles battled back from 3-0 to lose in OT. I thought it would be a long winter.

And then the Isles turned out to be pretty good when everyone said they would be horrible. They beat the Rangers 4 times in December and I was hooked on hockey. Jason Blake was having the best season of his career. DP turned out the be worth that 15 year contract and Garth Snow proved to be a better GM than goalie by stealing Marc-Andre Bergeron and Ryan Smyth from the Oilers.

Then March came. The Isles started to slip away and baseball came back. The Chris Simon incident, DP got a concussion and they lost faith. Then April 1, Opening Day. The Mets are playing the Cardinals again. I felt as nervous as I did on October 19th. But the Mets picked up right where they left off in October and crushed the Cardinals saying you may have won the World Series but that was last year and payback's a bitch. It's 2007 now. OUR SEASON HAS COME.
It's a long way till October but yesterday reminded me how fast time flies.

Baseball has just started but there are still 2 hockey games left (unless another Miracle on Ice happens). Tomorrow I will be at the Nassau Coliseum cheering on my Isles as they play the Rangers one last time and Thursday for the Maple Leafs. Our 2 biggest rivals. I bleed orange & blue year round for the Mets & Isles. It's never been a better time to be a fan of both.

I've been to 3 home openers for the Isles but I've never been to a home opener for the Mets. On Monday I will go to my first ever Mets home opener. I can't wait. Unless God & the state of New York hate me and call my number for jury duty. Eh.

On a side note, what in the hell is up with the Red Sox???? Losing to the Royals???? WTF!!!

Peace Out!
Lata,
Da Queen
