in the fake-ache of the gloomloom, slippers slap me alive

Here is a poem.

"Reflections On The Mail On My Desk"
by Yours Truly

there are letters on my desk
actually bills
credit card bills
I should pay my credit card bills
so the credit card companies
won't cut me off
and so I'll be able to
buy a lot of stuff
and then pay it back later
at a fixed interest rate
and I think that's just wonderful
because I like to buy things
like radios and cakes
and bars of soap that smell like women
buying things is a thing to do
and when I'm dead
I'll still owe a bazillion dollars
but I won't care
because I plan to dispose of my corpse
by having it catapulted into the lake
so I guess they'll just have to
reposess my Devo records
or maybe fish my bones
from out of the lake
and somehow convert them into gold
or Treasury-backed government bonds
but either way
it seems like a reasonable trade to me
so I regret nothing
