About Fuma being too young for the song - yeah, lots of people aren't virgins at the age of 17. But that doesn't mean that it's advisable for them to perform songs like this. It's just... no. Maybe 5 years later. Not now. (Maybe I think this because of my own experience. I can't even take my own teen past self serious, when it comes to sex. XDD) Well, I also thought about that Fuma may not even understand what he's singing about, Japanese people are somehow not very good in English. :'DDDD But I think the one who wrote the lyrics may know what he/she wrote about, at least what she wanted to... Yes, it is not correct English, but imo that critical part is not ambiguous at all. :D (But well, English isn't my first language and my mind is dirty like hell.) Btw, imo these lyrics are not gross at all - they are simply inappropriate for the group. XD; (For me the level "gross" starts with "But tonight I'm fuckin' you, wooo-ooo-ooo-ooo", just to quote from Enrique 'Sexanimal' Iglesias. o_O) These lyrics would be perfectly all right for somebody like Akanishi Jin. Nobody would be surprised. :D But to be honest, JE maybe didn't think properly about the group's future. This large age gap will cause some problems, somehow I feel like this. This is so sad. :/
Ah okay, I can kind of see what you mean. I'm only 18 myself so I don't see it as bad at the moment I guess. When someone younger like Marius or Sou or someone starts singing these sorts of songs when they're 17 I'll probably be like D: nooooo. Haha ^^. The person may have known to some degree what he was writing about... But I don't know it just seems like they might not know how it sounds in English. I'd personally side eye a western singer if I heard them sing those sorts of lyrics though haha. Yeah this song sounds perfect for Jin lol. Hopefully their age difference will become less noticeable in the future? I mean there are plenty of JE groups with big age gap in members. V6 has a gap of like 10 years or something ridiculous. So I'm just hoping that they'll get less awkward when they're older. :D
Yeah, I think I understand what you mean. People who speak a second or third language sometimes can't fully understand what an expression sounds like to a native speaker. Me, for example, have no real problem with the f-word in English; but when somebody uses its Hungarian equivalent too frequently... Jesus Christ, I could kill. XDDD; About V6: It's true there is a big age gap between the members. But they've never been promoted as 'sexy'. V6, in the beginning of their career, was a group of severe badasses. Then they sang serious-sounding songs with low voices and rap and acted veeery cool. Well, this attitude can't go wrong, there are people who didn't like it, but that's it. XDDD But the concept of Sexy Zone seems like to struggle between glittering, pink cuteness and inappropriate sexiness. :'D (Sounds like a younger Hello! Project girlband. XD) HSJ was lucky in the sense that the members have never benn told to have that sex monster kind of image. Yamada, for example, is smoking hot with a very little amount of not inappropriate fanservice. But, as I said, the concept is what is wrong with Sexy Zone. Mainly their embarassing name. Coolness, natural behaviour, dashing smiles, being extremely pretty without any effort (as Shori does XD), being humorous and joyful: these are things that are more than acceptable, everybody loves them. Sexiness on the other hand is not all right in every cases, and the older members seriously start to grow out that cutie pie kind of image. (To be honest, I like Arashi's and Kanjani8's totally natural attitude the most. XDDD) But well, I hope that the storms will end and they find a pleasant solution to the problem. Ooops, I talked too much. Again. D: About a topic you already know about. Eeeh. XDDDD *fail*
Haha ^^ yes exactly! Lol Ah yeah I see what you mean. It's kind of a mystery how Sexy Zone got their image in the first place? Like, I wonder who decided to market them that way despite the members being so young. I think a lot of the way JE groups are marketed is weird tbh. But maybe that's just me looking at it from a westerners point of view, I don't know lols. But Sexy Zone especially. When my friends come over I take down my posters from embarrassment haha. No problem! I like talking :D
Now that you mention it, I can't find any reasonable explanation. XDDD It's perfectly understandable that even the youngest members Hey! Say! JUMP soon turn to 20, so there is a need for another band featuring pretty young members for pretty young girls. That's not surprising. But promoting them as sexy, with the average age of 15 is... sorry for my vulgarity, but it is really fucked-up. o_O They may be sexy for girls of their age group, but with this sexiness thing the management, perhaps unconsciously, made a laughing matter out of them. This sounds very cruel, but it is true. Lots of older people can't take them serious because of this fact, not to mention that the situation is scary or even morally wrong for some. I'm truly sorry that I had to say these kinds of things when these boys are so talented. But after all this is not their fault, it's the fault of the people managing their career. (I hope that no member of SZ will ever read this comment while surfing the net.) Well, about marketing... If you think about it, boybands are not so fashionable in western music nowadays. There are a few exceptions, like 7 years ago that huge, fanatical uproar surrounding Tokio Hotel and their first album 'Schrei', and now there is One Direction for young girls to go crazy for. But boybands who don't make their own music are not that popular anymore. That era ran its course in the '90s and early '00s. The love of idols is typically an Asian invention, so its realization bears a strange, foreign sense to us. For me the most irritating kind of this is fanservice. :D I seriously hate it. Especially when they overly sexually lick their lips or giving oral sex to the microphone (a phenomenon widely popular with visual kei bands, whom I also do not like). Yuk. Btw, even though there aren't many western boybands anymore, Korean idol groups enjoy huge popularity throughout the world (mainly in Japan!). And Korean pop is more western-like than Japanese. (I think I read somewhere that Kento wants to learn Korean in the university because he loves kpop and because Yamada learns it, too. XDDD Such a lovely guy. :D)
Yeah yeah I totes agree! A lot of people have written them off because of their name which I think is sad :(. I guess again like with Rouge they didn't realise how weird the name sounded in English? Do people criticise them in Japan too or is it just an international thing? I don't think anyone from SZ would come here to read your comment lols. At least I hope not haha. Yeah I get you about the marketing. Ah well, more for us :) my friends can keep their 1D lol. (I read that too. He's such a sweetie! :3)
Maybe they really didn't... That would be the luckier scenario if you ask me, because if Johnny and the people working for him seriously thinks that the younger boys are sexy... Well, ouch. :') I don't know about Japan, I just noticed that wherever I read an article about them on the net, a high percentage of the comments aren't from fans, but people whose opinion is that Sexy Zone sucks, which makes me very sad. :| Better safe than sorry, I say! XD One can never know.
Haha ikr? Well we'll give them the benefit of the doubt :). I've noticed that too. Why can't people look past their name, it's not like the boys themselves chose it. It upsets me too :(.
