Sis has a full-price bid in on my favourite house. There is also another bid in on the house, for how much we don't know, but it could easily be for the asking price. It MIGHT even be for over the asking price. Anyway, we have no idea...and I don't feel like we'll get the house. Which will be really too bad since the location could not be more perfect. But that's the way it goes. I'd rather think we won't get it and be pleasantly surprised if things go better than expected than think we WILL, and then don't. Won't be long before we know...noon today, I think. To me that house is perfect. It's not pretty, and it's old, but it's sturdy and the set up of the rooms is great...we'd both have plenty of our own space, plus a kitchen with lots of cabinet room, a rather pretty upstairs (it's actually the prettiest part of the house imo but I'm not good at going down stairs. Up, yes. Down, no.) that sis could claim all for herself, with its own bathroom that has LOTS of room to add a shower to to make it so that we never have to share bathrooms. Then an entire basement for bonus space...and a very nice, quiet back yard and small front yard that could quickly be landscaped to the hilt. I love it.
But yeah, I don't think we'll get it. And there is another house nearly as nice in nearly as good a position. It doesn't suit our individual needs nearly as well, but it's a pretty good place. And I'm sure there are more still. So...que sera, sera.
EDIT: As I thought, we didn't get it. The others put in an offer over asking price. (It's not actually WORTH over asking price, though...they won't be able to get their money back out of it if they have to sell it in the future...this house was on the market for over a year because the seller was originally asking for more and it's just too old and too oddly designed with the four huge out-buildings to be worth much more than 220,000) The only way we'd end up with it at this point is if their attempt to get financing falls through. Well, like I said...there's always lots of houses. It was just an uncannily good location, is the main thing. That and the fact that it was unusually easy to essentially divide into two separate living spaces.)
