Gave up all dessert (including things like fruit juice since it's really just liquid sugar) for July. Lately, I've been constantly thinking about chocolate Timbits. In ice cream. Like putting brownie chunks in with your ice cream, you know?
How I wish I was joking, lol. (A 'timbit' is a donut hole as sold by the Canadian franchise Tim Hortons, btw, but I think Timmy's is in the US, too, so probably every one knows what a timbit is)
Going without dessert isn't quite as hard as it might seem, but I do seem to go through stages where sugary things occupy my mind to excess. And I don't think it's doing me any good, either. Sugar supposedly creates more inflammation in the body, but I don't think I've improved after nearly 3 weeks without any. If I have it's at a level I can't quite detect. But it's not hurting me, either...except that this is the first time I've ever seriouslly considered chopping up a half dozen chocolate timits and throwing them into a bowl of vanilla ice cream before. Or letting the ice cream melt to soft-serve consistency and using it as a dipping sauce for the timbits.
Yikes. Well, after July is over, I think I'll set a 'one dessert a week' rule. I did that before for quite a while (though it was a few years ago now) and it was actually quite liveable.
