The very first movie I ever saw in theatres is on TV right now. I haven't seen it since then (1986.) An American Tail. I barely remember it at all...a little mouse in floppy clothes and a huge hat who sings 'somewhere out there'. That's really all I remember. I don't even remember if I liked it or not. I was in awe, of course...it probably the second or third movie I'd ever seen in my life and the first time I'd ever seen a screen bigger than any of the walls in my house, too. I remember that it was too loud. (I still think theatres are waaaaaay too loud, every time I go. Which is admittedly less than once a year even now.)
At that time most homes did not own VCRs, yet. My family would rent a VCR along with the movie, if we really really just had to see one. The first movie I ever saw was The Neverending Story, only a year before my first theatre movie. TNS came out in 1984 but at that time, it took at LEAST a year for a movie to be released to 'home video'...usually more. TNS had a *huge* impact on me but other than being shown in a theatre, AAT didn't have much impact at all, though I don't think I disliked it. Haha, this was the time of HUGE box televisions on little legs, with knobs you turned for the 12 or 13 channels that might be available (they weren't...there were about 3-4 and the other channels were just static). You turned them BY HAND, lol.
It would probably seem like a story of vastly olden days to my little cousin. That's kind of hilarious.
Oh hey, I remember this song, too! 'Never say never'. I guess the music stuck with me after all? I don't remember much of the joining bits, though. It's kind of weird to be seeing it again...
