A few years ago, I read Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility. I didn't get how or why Elinor and Edward got married, and I didn't get why Marianne and the Colonel got married, either.

Today, I watched the 1995 Emma Thompson/Kate Winslet movie. Very entertaining, very enjoyable.

But I still don't get it.

So last night, on RBF Amy's recommendation, I watched Swing Kids...and, seriously, what is it about older movies with Robert Sean Leonard that makes me cry? Because I don't cry at too many movies, but both this and Dead Poets Society had me ridiculously weepy, so movies with RSL now comprise half of the Movies That Make Anne-Cara Cry list ( Read more... )

I know it's a silly thing, but the realization that the Oscars are going to be held March 5th, and March 5th is part of spring break, meaning that I'll actually be able to watch them from the comfort of my home just absolutely delighted me. I am my grandmother's daughter, I suppose.
