had a great night at work

I'm normally only ever writing about terrible nights at work and the horrible people that come in. Tonight I had a great night, and I decided that I should mark that occasion by writing about it. So here I am. It started off with me driving down from Caseville early in the afternoon because one of my co-workers Shanti, bribed me into working for her. She paid me $25 to work it, and apparently was none too happy about it. But I was up north, she was up north... it was her shift... I made the sacrifice to come home early and work it... for the mere price of $25. I didn't think it was that unreasonable. I enjoy having my weekends off, me working comes at a price.

so anyway... I showed up to work around 5pm. The bar was pretty dead and John was up there working. We took turns relaxing, having some soup, him smoking, etc... and finally our manager Matt let him leave. We never filled up but always had a couple of tables. At one point our General Manager and our old Regional(her girlfriend) came in to eat and I was a little worried because I didn't want to screw up and have her sitting right there, but I think that everything went alright while she was there. Plus she tipped me $10 on $36 so I'm guessing it was fine. While they were there, one of my old regulars came in. They used to sit in my section every week when I worked Sunday Nights on the floor. I always knew what they wanted and it was great. They are a really nice couple. Well they tipped me $10 on a $30 bill. Then another table came in, of 5 people. They were great from the get go. They had state shirts on, so I made a joke about loving MSU but not UofM and that if they were UofM fans I might have to kick them out. THey all had a few drinks and some food with a bill totalling $110... they left me $25 on that. All night tips were really great. Plus the tables were low maintenance and really easy going.

my night ended with a gentleman coming in on his own to get some food. He was very easy to talk to, shared about his life and asked about mine. Was very very nice and complimented me a lot. I'm used to old men flirting with me, so it wasn't anything new... I don't think that's ever a surprise to anyone in the service industry... you just smile, say thank you, and keep doing your job.

So that was my shift... a lot of really nice tables, nothing too busy, and I was out of there by 10:15... very nice!

This past weekend I spent a really relaxing time with Pete up north in Caseville. We swam, relaxed, played some volleyball, went to the beach. Overall it was a wonderful weekend and I always have so much fun hanging out with him and hanging out up in caseville. Now I"m off to watch the 4400 before I zone out completely...
