’ annihilated’-消滅。How I hate this word. Extinction, disappearance, annihilation. I think the localisation uses ‘termination’. A pussy way of saying ‘dead’.
’ “…uh…” --「…えっ…」The noise is spelt literally more like, ‘eh’, but in English, ‘eh’ means more like, ‘whatever, who cares. Eh.’ So, I dunno. I sat there for five minutes making noises trying to figure out what fitted best!! Then I went and asked other people!! In reality, it’s more like a sharp exhalation. I DON’T KNOW. ;___;
’That’s-‘ そんな--. Now, technically. ‘Sonna’ is a colloquial form of ‘sono you na’, which means ‘like that’. As far as I know, it is vaguely negative in tone. So, really, what Roxas is saying carries the connotation of ‘Such a thing…’ BUT that sounds archaic. Why do old timey words always have such clearer and pretty meanings ;___; Roxas should just be Edwardian or something ;___;
’ “there’s no meaning in such a thing, kupo.”’そんなものに意味はないクポ。-this is exactly what Xemnas says to Roxas on the dark beach XDDD;; Minus the kupo, that is…
’ “Haha-that’s the thing that’s got you like this?”’-ははっ--何かと思えばそんなことかLiterally, ‘hahah-if one were to think what, that kind of thing is it.’ Yeah.
’ Xigbar is always coming to talk to me. He talks to me a lot more than Saïx, so I like him.’ Like = 好き. If anyone tries to tell you that Xion ‘loves’ Roxas or Axel because she used that word in the Secret Reports, you can tell them right back that she ‘loves’ Xigbar.
’ “I don’t wait just cause I’m told to!”’ *luffs on Tiida* In Japanese, Tidus is one of those boys that ends sentences with ッス, a contracted and therefore fake-polite way of sayingです. Selphie has a distinct dialect. I don’t know what it is enough to be able to explain it, but it’s noticeable.
Oh god I love Larxene. She is so chillingly HORRIBLE. タネアカシ、してほしい?してほしい?どうしよっかな~ You want it? You want it? WHAT to do~ Larxene’s speech often has extra little っ to show where she bounces her sing-song voice. Aaah~ <3
’ The rage of a heartless Nobody.’ Heartless as in『心のない』not『ハートレス』. Stupid language-raping Nomura.
’ No?’ 違うか?Ahhaaa… whenever I read this particular phrase, I’m reminded of MONO-ii’s comedy act
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMDbLF_YA0M&feature=related. xDDDD;;; CHIGAUKA?? The word in itself is pretty interesting. Literally, it means, ‘is it different?’. However, in Japanese, this word ‘different’ is pretty much synonymous with ‘wrong’. I learned this the hard way. It’s perhaps a reflection of culture that different = wrong, where in ours different = interesting. Well, it’s not as clean as that, but. Something to ponder.
‘“But you too, with Vexen!”-I need that verb you cut off thar, Marly. Epic trailing off fails in translation AGAIN.
’ resigning himself to it.’-akirameta. Wearily, bored, tired, resigned.
 It’s fine to destroy things that are in the way.-Actually more scathing than I could word properly. ‘As for things in the way, if they’re destroyed, it’s good’. Except short and sharp and snappy. Ugh.
’ “Hm?”-more like, ‘ho?’ Lol. Axel says this.
’ cared like this’-こんな風に特別の誰かが気になる。Ki ni naru also means ‘interested in’, (and also means ‘to fancy~ lol) but I don’t think in this context. The second time he says ‘care’, he says 気にかかる, which definitely means care about, as in, worried by etc.
’destroy’-sometimes the original is消滅, and sometimes it’s消す.
 born-and-bred members-生え抜きメンバー。Native born. All one’s life.
’ wormed his way deep in Lord Xemnas’s bosom’-ゼムナス様の懐深くに入り込んだ. Yep, literally his bosom. Hee hee hee~ I am so 12 years old~
’ … and, my butt really hurts…”’-and, I remember the target audience for this story. Hee hee hee~ Luckily I’m twelve years old~
’ The lower dusks’-I don’t know whether this means, ‘the dusks, that are lower’, or, ‘certain dusks which are lower than the others’.
’ Once I’ve received Saïx’s orders, Xigbar calls out to me right away, as if he was waiting for me.’ -now. This line made me double-take. Usually lines like this are third person limited, not first person. It’s hard to tell sometimes between first and third (and second, even) person in Japanese, cause they use pronouns so sparingly. Sometimes I’ve wondered whether the whole story is just in first person and I’m not getting it. However, this isn’t the case. There are times which say ‘Roxas said’, for example, when it should have been from his perspective, or ‘Axel thought’, after… Axel thinks. Lol. So in any case, the whole story isn’t in first person. In fact, usually the action is third person limited, and then the character’s reaction can be in first person. It can still be hard to tell with the reactions, though. Sometimes you have to rely on noticing a character’s mannerisms or typical ways of speaking to figure out that hey, this is meant to be their thoughts. In any case, though, the action is generally third person limited. Not here. It really does say ‘Xigbar calls out to me’, using the girly ‘atashi’ as me. And, it’s one long sentence, so yes, the whole thing is Xion suddenly narrating in first person. Move over, Kanemaki… *giant Xion monologue commences*
’ eat up their power’-the verb is 食う, which means a LOT of things. It’s a rude way to say ‘eat’, and works in a lot of different ways that the Japanese don’t use ‘taberu’ for, like… when someone eats up your time, when big supermarkets eat up little shop’s customers, when moths eat your clothes, when someone thrashes another in a fight, when cars eat up lots of petrol… when people are old… get yelled at… lol. So yeah, it doesn’t have to literally mean the Repliku puts it in his mouth and eats it. However later Axel makes a joke about ‘feed’, so I decided to go with eat. It kind of works anyway.
’ What… what is with that guy! Until now, no one has ever taken in that much darkness! It shouldn’t be po…”-I think this is actually the first time I’ve ever seen Zexion speak in plain form (except for in his thoughts). Usually he is so polite, adding his desu and masu on the end of things like a good boy.
’ feed’-エサ. Animal food. Feed. In English we usually say like, bird seed, dog food, hay for horses, fish bait… but in Japanese, they have the all-encompassing ‘feed’.
’ And, if it’s for the sake of our own goal, we already decided what to do, that time.’-‘that time’ means that ‘they’ had discussed it previously, if it isn’t clear.
’ this inexplicable thing I have for Roxas now.’-今、ロクサスに抱いているこの説明できない何か。抱くmeans to harbour, feel, hold, have, bear, cherish. The kanji is the same one used in another verb for ‘hold in one’s arms’, embrace… make love to… LOL. It’s not the word for what Nobodies aren’t meant to be able to do, though. That’s 感じる as far as I know…
’ keepsake’-お守り. Charm? Idk. A trinket you keep that protects you.
