fandom snowflake challenge: day two
Ho-hum.
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
Gonna use this as an excuse to pimp out some of my favorites. Sticking once more primarily with Gokaiger because that's all I particularly care about right now.
1- Side Blue by CyanHorne
There's only one chapter posted so far, but I want this to get more hits, I want everyone to read it, and not just because it was inspired by one of my own fics. Sid needs more love in this fandom, damn it. Plus I'm just really excited to see where this fic is going.
2- Even A Miracle Needs a Hand by borrowedphrases
Yes, I'm recommending my husband. And not just this fic. Graduale Simplex (a crossover with Kamen Rider OOO) also comes highly recommended. Again, the main fic here also only has one chapter so far, but what a chapter it is. I love really drastic AUs, I love wingfic, and yes, this fic was written for me, but whatever. It's amazing regardless.
3- With a Cruelty Unspoken by Betrayal
Again, it's hard to pick just one of her fics. GO READ ALL OF THEM. Go read her Littlest but Greatest Treasures AU series. GO READ EVERYTHING SHE's EVER WRITTEN. But I'm purposefully recommending With a Cruelty Unspoken because I think she's got her finger on Basco's pulse, I think she has ideas about his character that no one else in the fandom can even fathom. And I like that. MORE BASCO, I say.
4- Welcome to Doppelgangland series by mlina
I fucking love this AU. It just delights me in ways that not a lot of fics do. Another person who has a great Basco, and is playing with him in new and interesting ways. The interactions between the entire crew and a Basco that isn't evil make me squeal and flail and I am waiting not-so-patiently for more of this series.
5- And All We Have Is Each Other by raggirare
Another example of go right now and read everything he has ever written. I chose this fic because it's a personal favorite (you'll probably notice this is also a gift to me. I am shameless, I don't care, when people put their minds to writing for me they somehow always come up with all the amazing). Also highly recommended is his version of a "Sid survives" timeline, Not How We Intended. But no really, go read And All We Have because it's the most epic Sid/Joe back story you're likely to find, and honestly it puts all of my speculation about the two of them to shame.
Hey look at that, I recced five different people, I'm married to one of them, dating one of them, friends with two of them, and only one of them is a stranger to me, the one of them who has stated categorically that they're inspired by my work. /o\ sorry, guys. I play favorites. WHATEVER MY FAVORITE PEOPLE DESERVE MORE LOVE.
ETA: OOPS. I forgot that this isn't just a fanfiction challenge, so hold up for a second while I introduce you all to Atan (trololous on Tumblr), my most favoritest fanartist in the Gokaiger fandom, not to mention all other kinds of fandoms. Seriously, go browse her art tag on Tumblr and be amazed. She drew Angel Sid from my fic It's a Marvelous Life. She might be drawing the saddest damn Sid/Joe doujin ever. Try to read this comic without tearing up (I sure as hell can't). There's all kinds of goodies on that tag, from Mahou Shoujo Gotou from Kamen Rider OOO to Poledancing Kaijins (OOO and Den-O). GO LOVE ON ATAN. There's a reason there's a tag on Tumblr and a hashtag on twitter dedicated to her awesomeness.
