Y'know, I only just got a TV again after over a year without, so last night, after watching the Samurai Jack episode where his geta get trashed, I was SHOCKED to hear that Toonami was shutting down!
I started watching the Toonami lineup while on maternity leave with Justice, who will be 10 in like, a month. So - kinda sad and nostalgic, but mostly hopeful that they will replace it with programming that will live up to the expectations Toonami met. *shakes fist* They'd BETTER meet those expectations, mofos....
Cartoon Network has been going dowwwwwn. Adult Swim lineup is so meh. So many awesome shows aren't being shown anymore (like FUTURAMA! gogo LOL's at your Robot Devil reference.).
The fact that you were 9 in 1997 makes gogo feel like a damn pedo. But, gogo was watching Dragonball, Voltron, n' Cowboy Bebop like the Muthafuckin' Fist of the North Star. (Not that gogo remembers much of what happened w. these series. This was also the time that gogo was clubbing like the Muthafuckin' Fist of the North Star, soooo... Yeah.)
IT'S SO SAD. WHY, CN AND AS, WHY? And now that Adult Swim is controlling all the anime on CN, Naruto is now going to be in the anime lineup. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
LOL, but mentally I was 20, then. VOLTRON, FUCK YEAH. I never knew Steve Blum (Spike's VA) voiced the mascot who hosted Toonami. UNTIL LAST NIGHT.
YOU GET DOWN WITH YOUR BAD SELF. I'm sure you were watching those cartoons while not in the necessarily right state of mind anyway, lol. I WAS 9, SO I HAD NOTHNG TO DO BUT WATCH CARTOONS.
Yeah, I've stuck to Toonami for a good long while (before cartoons started to become boring on there). It had a lot of great shows that still entertained me through my wee teen years.
You know how sad I am? Holy hell. I have so many fond memories of Toonami. You know how religiously I watched DBZ, TM!, and Outlaw Star way back in the day? I would be furious if I missed anything. ._.
Sad to see Toonami come to an end, but considering how the quality of shows of CN is pretty much in the shitter, poor Toonami was bound to die from the gangrene.
I so did love Toonami. It is the reason that Robotech is currently sitting in my anime collection, it will be the reason I buy the box set of Voltron when it comes out (finally) and quite a few others.

I didn't actually get to watch the sign off speech Steve/Tom gave. I heard it was pretty sad, though.
