DAY 02 | FAVORITE FILM
I have too many favorite films, and not enough willpower to keep brief any discussion of movies I love. I AM WEAK.
I ALSO DO NOT PLAY BY THE RULES, so I present to you instead my favorite movies from a genre that I generally loathe: the typically trite and predictable romantic comedy. They're not perfect films, and they may not be my absolute favorites, but I find them all quite charming.

My Sassy Girl is the tale of a spineless young man and the (cute but) crazy lady who meets him drunkenly on a South Korean subway train. Basically, any love story that starts with a girl throwing up noodles on an old man's toupee is alright by me.
...That didn't come out right. Anyway, the point is that the movie is goofy, adorable, and doesn't take itself seriously-- until the requisite Korean ~*melodrama*~ kicks in during the second act, that is. Usually that kind of drastic shift in tone would have put me off for good, but I ended up crying like a little bitch instead. Que embarassing. That goes to show, though, how likeable the characters are.
(Also, there's a
Bollywood adaptation, which I need to see pretty much right now.)
♥
But I'm a Cheerleader is part lesbian romcom, part satire of conservative American values, and part OH MY GOD IT'S RUPAUL. I enjoy its quirky and colorful retro sensibility, as well as its BITCHIN' SOUNDTRACK and surprisingly sexy love scenes ('surprisingly sexy' in that the two participants are Natasha Lyonne and Clea Duvall, who suffers from an almost comically oversized jaw-- RUDE BUT TRUE, YOU GUYS).
♥ Koi no Mon features my bb Ryuhei Matsuda as an aspiring manga artist with a bizarre fondness (sexual fetish?) for rocks, coupled with Wakana Sakai as his pushy, anime-loving romantic interest. There's a full-blown dance sequence, a hilarious (and bizarre) sex scene, and lots of Ryuhei making his wibbly-lipped Helpless Face™. Love it-- and the kick-ass soundtrack provided by Sambomaster doesn't hurt either.
tl;dr: I'm a Negative Nancy and hate romantic comedies, except for these three, which are pretty awesome.
I am, however, always open to recommendations! ♥
