DAY 01 | FAVORITE SONG
Narrowing down everything I love about music into one favorite song would be a tall order for anyone, I imagine-- except maybe for those rare, strange people who claim not to enjoy listening to music. (If you don't like music, I think you are an odd bird, and possibly somewhat creepy-- but don't take it personal, mang.) I, for one, love music of all kinds, couldn't live without it, have got to shake my groove thang, and so forth. However, if I absolutely had to pick one song to name my favorite, it would be Mirai by The Back Horn.

I love how the purity and simplicity of it feels deliberate and constructed and yet unaffected and unabashed-- and how, underneath that, there's a misty sort of bittersweetness. I love this song because, for five minutes and twelve seconds, the world can be simple even if life isn't always easy, and the unknown becomes mutually exclusive with the impossible. I'm reminded that it's so easy to be pessimistic, but optimism, by its nature, is a test of faith. There's infinite beauty and sadness in just existing, isn't there?
How long can I believe
There is feeling in this trembling hand
in my heart the song resounds
and we go on
a brilliant future

here.)
