Busy Tropical Season!

Frances, Gaston, and Hermine- our three currently active storms in the Atlantic. This makes for a very busy GOES-12! I've delegated watching the continental US to 10 and she's just as busy what with all the severe weather over the weekend. 9 is busy with a terrible typhoon that's hitting Japan's coast. It almost looked as if Hermine spun up out of Gaston's exhaust... and then there might have been a bit of a Fujiwara effect between them. Gaston is just a big mess of rain now (which looks like it's coming in my direction - I'm in central New Jersey, near the shore, and not very far south of NYC), and Hermine looks as if she's headed toward Cape Cod. And is there something else trying to spin up just off the western bulge of Africa?

Frances looks as if she could be a real troublemaker, though. From your excellent photos, I can see that Frances has a very well-developed structure. And even the most advanced prediction models are sometimes wrong about where a storm will go.
