Worth & Love

Oct 17, 2006 21:48

I just wrote this...

Don’t listen to what the actors say

They know not of worth and love

For they are well-versed in heroics

And they play the parts enough

So by knowing and yet not doing

They become their own judge

But what now will we do

Holding sacred worth and love?

Don’t listen to what the crowds say

They will trample worth and love

They have given away their minds

To whim and zeal and hum

So they cry for long-lost truth

As they ignore what’s now begun

In forsaking sacred conscience

Can we arrive at worth and love?

You need not care about celebrities

Or fix onto the crowd that you might please

Don’t live for the party or the magazine

Even status a thing a thief can seize

And the crowd will eat you in its time

The screen’ll burn out your dazzled eyes

Than what shall be said of worth and love?

Shed, yes, but not as sacred blood?
