Thinking on my recent review of "The Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborne, I feel I've been overly harsh.  So here are some positive aspects I feel I neglected...

1)  Shane has a lot more credibility from real, personal experience than most writers, Christian or not.  That part of the book which is simply a recounting of his acts, is impressive.  So he deserves much credit for follow-through.  In fact, he makes it clear that he has no personal intentions for the income of the book, but lists organizations to which he'll be donated the profits.

2)  Shane message of letting go of money and letting in people is so desperately needed in the rich, lonely West.  And the message is established so well that I personally was given the final encouragement I needed to give away my laptop.  Now that's the product of multiple desires and influences, but something that I have yearned to have the character to do for some time now.  It was while reading the book that I finally got to the point to where I could give it away with a smile.  And what do you know, the first person I asked, "Do you know anyone who needs a laptop?" was my coworker from the Philippines who said his brother in a Philippines nursing school program has been asking for one for a year.

3)  My perception that Shane neglects the actual sharing of Jesus Christ as our unique Savior could, of course, be off.  But I've learned to be skeptical, seeing what I see.
