Today was a loooong day at work and thank goodness it's over because it was super busy and I was already feeling irritable when the last guest of the night took forever even though the store was already closed but I'm over it. *deep breaths* But yesterday was awesome, so let's talk about that, yes?
Yesterday a group of six of us (me, Ryan, Kim, Amanda, Yuri, and obviously Mike) met up at Mike's house around 3:30, then headed out together to Arco Arena for
The Rock and Worship Roadshow. It's been forever since I've been to a concert, plus Family Force 5 and David Crowder were gonna be there, so I was pretty excited. Well, it was a concert where the tickets were 10 bucks and everyone pays at the door, so obviously the seats were first come first serve. We got there at 4:30, knowing the doors would open at 5:30. It had been somewhat drizzly all day, but of course it started seriously raining once we got there. So yes, we stood outside in the rain for an hour, waiting to get into the concert. lol, it was pretty awesome. We were all cold and totally soaking wet. I was like, well, at least it'll make a good story for later on? :D?
So we got inside and found seats (we got pretty decent ones, although we weren't quick enough to get floor seats, but that's okay), then took off our soaking wet sweatshirts and such and hung around and talked while we waited for the concert to start. Stefani joined us not too long after we got our seats, since she came straight from work. She missed all the excitement of waiting in the rain, lol. But yeah, it was a pretty awesome concert. The two opening bands were pretty decent, and then the first main band to play, Fee, was pretty awesome. I didn't think I knew who they were, but out of the like four songs they played, I knew two of them from church. Go figure. After that was a female singer who I didn't really care about, and then after that was ~Family Force 5~, which was mine and Yuri's main reason for going. They were, of course, super awesome, and rocked out the whole time they were on stage. I was actually hot and tired from jumping and dancing around so much, haha. After that was David Crowder, who was of course amazing, and at that point the concert kind of shifted to more of the worship angle. Which was awesome because I love worshipping in big groups like that. It's really cool to see so many people singing to Jesus all together. And well, David Crowder did a couple of old hymns in a "hoedown" style, as he put it, which was really amusing, lol. After that was Mercy Me, which I'm not a huge fan of them, but they're good live. I think most everyone got emotional, between the songs they did and what the lead singer was saying about losing loved ones and living out our faith 24/7 and celebrating Easter and everything. So yeah, great concert.
Leaving was interesting, because it was PACKED because the stadium was basically full, so yeah, very crowded inside the building, especially when we were trying to get to Family Force 5's merchandise table (where I bought a t-shirt- when's the last time I bought a band t-shirt??). And then of course we couldn't remember where we parked our cars, and naturally it wasn't raining anymore by this point, because why would it rain when we're not going to be outside for that long? lol, the whole day was basically an adventure. And then, thanks to conflicting directions from my brother, I got lost trying to get back on the freeway...yeah. XD;; I was so full of fail trying to drive back to Elk Grove... Anyway, we all headed over to Denny's (because that's just what you do, am I right?) and had some nice greasy breakfast food and hung out for a while, listening to Mike tell stories about working at Home Depot and being amazed that he hasn't been fired yet. Good times.
But yeah, tomorrow's Easter. Should be...normal and uneventful. But church should be awesome, and even though the family dinner probably won't be that exciting, the food should be good, so yay, I guess? And then my brother and I are going to try to con our parents into taking us to see How to Train Your Dragon. We'll see if that works out.
