After taking a shower, putting on an "acceptable" outfit, and covering my face with makeup, I was ready at about 7 a.m.
*the whole world gasps*
Yes, yes, that's right. I was up before noon. I received a phone call from Jovana last night saying that I was to go to graduation rehersal with her today. I didn't know about any of this, so I was like "ok then." The senior breakfast was at 7:30 a.m. - 8 a.m., senior picture at 8:15 a.m. (to give everyone time to get situated), and rehersal from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Jovana picked me up right at 7:30 a.m. (you could be late for the breakfast, hell, skip it if you wanted). When we got to the school I hadn't stepped in for months, I was nervous as hell to go inside. My social phobia kicked in, and I felt as though I needed to throw up. I kept my composure though, and proceeded into the school with Jovana. She wanted to stop at one of her, now former, teacher's classrooms, and say goodbye. It was Mrs. McCleud, the French teacher that basically pretended that she didn't even know who I was when I stepped in with Jovana. I hated her anyway.
We went up to the office to see about my cap and gown. My mom said she'd already paid for it, and yet they said that she hadn't so, at first, I was screwed. But when the book keeper seen me, she let me have the cap and gown anyway because she knew she could trust me. That's the reward I get for not having been a trouble maker. :-D
We then headed to where the breakfast was being held, just outside the new gymnasium that I'd never seen before, because it was finished after I left for alternative school. Seeing the familiar faces of my classmates wasn't particularly pleasant. One of the first people I saw was Maggie. One of the people who likes to pretend we're on good bases with each other, then turns around and talks shit about me behind my back. She said, "Omg, hey! I didn't know you were graduating!" I just nodded and smiled. When we got to the big cluster of seniors at the doughnuts, there Cameron stood, listening to his headphones. He glanced at me for perhaps a second, and then continued looking at the ground. He hasn't changed a bit. I followed Jovana into the crowd reluctantly, as she grabbed things to eat. I was too worried about figuring out everything I need to do to make sure I was in the graduation ceremony, to even think about food. Megan and Jessica (two girls that have been enemies from the start) darted glances at me, as if they weren't expecting me to show up. They continued talking to some other girls. Then I spotted Mr. Fetty (the principal).
I walked up to Mr. Fetty and asked what I should do because I'd just finished alternative school, I didn't have any kind of proof, and if I was totally 100% included. He told me to find Mrs. Garrett to make sure everything was totally complete. I skimmed the gym for Mrs. Garrett and she was no where in sight so I went around the school looking for her. I passed Lance in the hallway who pleasantly said, "Hey MaryLynn" in an almost joking way. "Hi Lance," I said back pleasantly. Lance is friends with Megan and Jessica, but I don't really hate him. He's just there. She wasn't in her office, or the main office. While searching, I ran into Mrs. Darnell who gave me certificates of some sort, and said that would have to do for proof. O-k then, back to the gym.
Somehow, some way Mrs. Garrett had got to the gym without passing me in the hallways. She was there sorting through the portfolios of high school. Basically, it was a folder of all this stuff we've done over the years. Mine was quite thin, while honors people had thick ones. Pfft, show-offs. Jovana's folder had stuff falling out of it. When I got a chance to speak with Mrs. Garrett, she said everything was fine, and that all my transcripts made it, that I was 100% in. I seen my ex-boyfriend, Ryan in the crowd. I have no idea if he saw me or not, and I didn't care enough to say hi to him.
We were instructed to put our caps and gowns on for the senior picture. The boys were maroon, while the girls were a sky blue. I zipped my gown up, and TRIED to keep my cap on. It kept slipping either backward or forward. I also had to keep my tassle to the left and front. Since I was tall, I was put in with those that were in the standing position, while the honors students sat in the front in the seats, and the short girls sat the very front. All the guys stood on chairs in the back, while the honors guys were on the seats. I stood next to Marikate for the picture. She indifferently said "Hey" when she noticed she was standing next to me. I hadn't seen her in like an age and a half, so I didn't really care. Marikate can be annoying, but I never really hated her like everyone else has at one point or another. Megan and Jessica were a few people down, talking to the other Megan, who was with the honors people. Then, for the first time, I spotted June. She was all the way on the otherside of the row. It was the first time I'd seen her since ... well, we stopped being friends way back in like January (I think). She hadn't changed at all, she looked exactly like she always has. A lot of people looked different, either because they'd lost or gained weight or because they'd changed their hair, etc. The only way I looked different was that my hair was significantly longer since way back in October. We had to remain perfectly still while the picture was taken because it did this little scan thingy. If you moved, you'd be a blur basically.
Then we took off our caps and gowns for rehersal. First, we paired up. I went with Jovana. They did honors people first, and their partners, and then everyone else. Since Jovana was in honors, I was up there with the smart people despite being only a C student. Megan (not my enemy) was paired up with June, who were standing in front of us in the line. We both avoided eye contact with each other, or more acted she was just another face in the crowd. Megan reminded me about the NIN concert in July that I'm supposed to be going to with her. Jovana, Megan, and I chit-chated. Jovana didn't talk to June either, and June would only talk to Megan. It was slightly awkward, but painless. We walked around the gym, most people were arm-in-arm, but Jovana and I agreed we'd just do that for the actual event. We walked up the isle to our seats, girls on one side, guys on the other. Then our class sponser, Miss Miller took our names down in a seating arrangment. Then, we were paired up with a guy on the other side of the isle, whom we'd be walking out with in "an orderly fashion." It went by the rows, and luckily, I got a guy that I don't know at all. Roger Vu ... er, I don't know to spell his last name, it's really long. Anyway, he's one of those dudes that I never had a class with in high school, nor have I ever spoken to. Awkwardly, I had to take his arm and walk down the isle. I looked forward at all times, and let go of his arm as early as possible when it was time for departure. "Roger's arm is really hairy," I said randomly to Jovana and Megan, who laughed. "Good observation there," Megan replied. Well! It was! I'm not making fun of him, it's just, that's all I felt when I took his arm.
Then we rehersed going up to the stage, and stuff. We were supposed to go in a sort of a rhythem, but Mr. Fetty told us to go quickly for rehersal. Basically we sped-walk across the stage. Then we'd walk back to our row and stand until everyone was off the stage, and sit all at once. We were to remember EXACTLY who we were near, and who we were paired with, etc or we'd be screwed in the ceremony. We were given two tickets for floor seating. Basically, for parents, who get to sit in the rows of seats behind us, while friends and such have to sit up in the bleachers. If they don't have a ticket, they can't sit on the floor seats. There's a dress code, blah blah blah. Pay any due money to the school (class dues, book rental, etc) today or tomorrow, or you won't graduate.
After rehersal ended, Jovana and I went up to see Mrs. Garrett so I could talk to her a little more about certain college things. Then I visited Mrs. Demmond, who didn't even notice I was in her classroom for like 5 minutes before being like "Omg! I haven't seen you in so long! How are you?!" We hugged and talked. She's going to the ceremony so I'd see her then, blah blah blah.
Jovana dropped me off, and didn't make me go to the stupid picnic at Lemon Lake Park (it's not really a lake, it's more like a pond). I'd rather not deal with people more than I have to.
